We did a big walk from Nimmanhaemin to the South gate area of the old city to re-visit a beautiful terracotta garden we had discovered by chance the last time we were in Chiang Mai.
This hidden terracotta garden and coffee shop is actually part of the Ban Phor Liang Meun’s Terracotta Art studio across the lane in the big teak house, which I believe is a shop and showroom. The garden has hundreds of ancient looking moss covered terracotta reliefs and sculptures scattered around the place. There is a mixture of Hindu and Buddhist sculptures and a couple with a more modern twist. The gardens were extended since last year and some of the piles of statues sorted.
It is a lovely serene spot to enjoy coffee and some lunch and to do some photography while enjoying the peace and quiet and the sound of birds.
It is not easy to find but well worth the effort!
