Just finished running a hectic yet rewarding workshop showing a group of ladies how to create textured landscapes. We depicted local landscapes focussing on texture using a variety of materials such as texture paste and tissue paper techniques.

After choosing a scene with which we felt some personal connection the canvas was prepared with gesso, scene sketched in with charcoal, composition considered and then a variety of texture materials was applied. When everything dried, the sketch was painted using acrylic.

It was lovely working with group of creative women who gave each other encouragement and exchanged ideas.

Each artwork created was unique, reflecting not just the chosen scenes but also the individual artists’ perspective and style. The transformation from blank canvases to textured artworks was amazing. A reflection of everyone’s creativity and hard work.

It was fun to spend a messy and sometimes chaotic but very creative and productive day helping others produce works which they were happy with.
