By pure chance, our visit to Hoi An coincided with a Full Moon Lantern Festival. These festivals are held on the 14th day of each lunar month, and locals and tourists flock to the old town section of Hoi An. All electrical lights are turned off to be replaced by lanterns and candles.

The old town is closed to motorised vehicles every night and on festival night, the only way to get to there was by boat or foo

Lots of candles were set free on the water. At times the biggest challenge was to find a gap amongst the crowd to make the photo.
