Gouffre de Padirac

We headed to Gouffre de Padirac, one of the most famous caves in Europe. You descend into the centre of the earth for 103 meters and then get a little boat that is pushed along the subterranean river with spectacular views.

Unfortunately, when you get into the guided tour section of the caves (the spectacular parts) you are not allowed to take photos. In the middle section there is a gigantic stalactite 60 m high. Then you disembark and walk towards a huge vault which is 94m high. The whole experience was amazing and we are pleased we booked ahead.

Please note that these are not our images – they are from searching for images of Gouffre de Padirac.

We then continued our visits to some of the most beautiful villages….we drove lots of tiny roads along limestone ranges and cliffs.
